Background
information:
In
the field of environmental and related sciences, Nanjing University (China),
University of Joensuu and University of Kuopio (Finland) have established good
mutual relationships in research and education. To enhance the existing
international collaboration, a “Sino-Finnish Environmental Research Centre
(SFERC)” was launched.
The
overall goals of the SFERC are to promote and facilitate research and education
in the area of environmental and related sciences. Furthermore the goal is to
implement multi-disciplinary research projects, exchange scientific information,
and provide students and young scientists with international education and
training opportunities. The SFERC, established by the Parties together, will be
a platform for scientists from both countries to conduct interdisciplinary joint
research and training, and will serve as an international scientific forum in
the area of current environmental topics as well as for long-term scientific
research. Our objective is to make the SFERC a globally recognized centre of
excellence in environmental research and in post-graduate
education.
To
celebrate the establishment of the SFERC, the 1st conference on CHALLENGES OF
ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT will be held on May 17th to
21st at Nanjing University.
